In the spirit of friendly competition, two sister Life Care facilities in Massachusetts sponsored a candlepin bowling league from the beginning of November 2016 through the end of February 2017.
Life Care Center of Leominster and The Highlands in Fitchburg both participated. Each facility had two teams of four players and played Monday night at Putnam Street Lanes in Fitchburg. The teams included associates from all departments, including nursing home specialists Dr. Kimberly Ebb and Dr. Ashraf Elkerm.
“We played hard, and we had fun,” said MaryAnn Melanson, director of admissions and marketing at both buildings.
“What a fun way to get through winter!” added Kris Burke from the purchasing department at The Highlands.
His counterpart at Life Care Center of Leominster, Judy Carlberg, shared, “Some are great bowlers, and some worked hard to become great bowlers.”
“It is fun to see people away from work and get to know them better,” said John Richard, physical therapist assistant at The Highlands.
