This is the third year the sister facilities participated together.
“The City of Fitchburg parade is a huge event and is watched by many people who come from surrounding communities,” said MaryAnn Melanson, director of admissions at The Highlands.
The theme for this year’s float was Pirates of the Caribbean. Associates and their families enjoyed decorating and walking alongside the float. The children enjoyed being on the float and handing out candy and freeze pops to the crowds.
“Onlookers, such as previous residents who have been to the facilities, cheer as the float goes by,” said Melanson. “It is a good feeling to hear the cheers and be recognized for the great service both facilities provide to the communities we serve.”
The effort this year paid off. The Pirates of the Caribbean float won second place out of more than 20 floats!
“The parade is a big event for our fellow associates at Life Care Center of Leominster,” said Stephanie Phillips, director of admissions at Life Care Center of Leominster. “It is a great time for all of us to be with our Life Care family and with our own families.”
