On Oct. 19, 2016, residents, associates and family members at Life Care Center of Leominster, Massachusetts, voted on their favorite carved pumpkins.
Forty associates participated in the pumpkin-carving contest. They had a week to create their masterpieces, and the results were as varied as the personalities.
First place went to Patrick Griffin, speech therapist, for his Tom Brady football helmet pumpkin. Nikki Mullaney, nurse, took second place for her Cinderella pumpkin, and Deyadelu Cruz, dietary aide, won third place for his pumpkin eating a pumpkin.
“I wanted to have the best, and Tom Brady is the best quarterback, so I knew it was a winner,” said Griffin.
In addition to having the associates’ pumpkins on display inside and outside, chef Thomas Charette did a pumpkin-carving demonstration for the residents.
